Does your child still sleep in your bed? Meet Freddie
Does your child still sleep in your bed, or end up standing beside your bed in the middle of the night? That's not unusual, and it's certainly not a matter of spoiling them. This is Freddie: a weighted cuddle toy that stays with your child all night, even when you've long since left the room.
Why your child ends up back in your bed at night
Often, it's not that your child doesn't trust you enough to sleep alone. It's the feeling of safety that's missing once the lights go out and you leave the room. Without that feeling, a child keeps looking for reassurance, and often that reassurance is literal: in your bed.
What most parents have already tried
A night light, leaving the door ajar, taking them back to their own bed, a set bedtime routine: sometimes it helps for a few days, but then your child is right back again. The only thing that really helped was staying with him until he fell asleep. And then it's eleven o'clock and you're still sitting on the edge of the bed.
Why weight keeps working
Even, constant pressure across the body feels to a child like a hug that stays put, even when you leave the room. That's exactly how a weighted cuddle toy differs from an ordinary 200-gram cuddly toy: the weight stays, the feeling of being hugged stays, all night long.
Meet Freddie
Freddie is the Scottish Highland cow in the Ella family. He comes from the cold Scottish hills and now mostly wants somewhere warm to lie down: like your child's bed, for example. He weighs 2 kilos, adjustable to 1.25 kilos with three removable 250-gram pouches. He also sits upright on his own (40 cm) and comes in a gift box with an adoption certificate and instructions in 4 languages, which is handy if you're giving him as a gift. Your child chooses him themselves, and that often turns out to be part of the solution: a cuddly toy you've chosen yourself is easier to take to your own bed.
What our first customers are saying
The Ella weighted cuddle toy has just launched, so there aren't many reviews yet. Here are two:
"Eddy is incredibly soft, and the weight feels like a real hug. The removable pouches are a clever idea too. Definitely worth the money!"
★★★★★ Sarah · verified buyer
"I got to test it as part of the test panel before it launched and I’m a huge fan. The plushies are really lovely, and it’s extra nice to cuddle one on the sofa, for example; it gives you a calm, comforting feeling. Very comfortable and soothing. Thank you, Ella and Job!"
★★★★★ Sanne · verified buyer
We’re showing these two reviews because the Ella Weighted Plushie has just launched, not because we’re pretending there are already thousands. If your child has been sleeping in your bed for a long time, or you’re concerned about the restlessness this can cause, discuss it with your doctor or child health clinic too. A weighted plushie may help your child relax, but it is not a medical treatment.
