The 6 reasons
Why a weighted blanket can bring calm
Fear feels worst when everything gets quiet
During the day, there’s plenty to distract you. As soon as the lights go out and everything gets quiet, thoughts and fears often come to the surface. Deep pressure on the body can ease that restless feeling.

Even pressure that soothes the nervous system
The blanket is filled with fine micro glass beads, evenly distributed in double-stitched pockets. This provides constant, enveloping pressure, similar to the feeling of a firm, sustained hug throughout the night.

Less tossing and turning, less chance of waking with a start
A child who lies more calmly moves around less and is less likely to wake fully after a bad dream. That doesn’t mean nightmares won’t happen, but it often makes it easier to fall back asleep.

Choosing the right weight is a matter of calculation, not guesswork
The rule of thumb is about 10% of your child’s body weight. That’s why there are two weights: 2.4 kg for children weighing 15 to 25 kg and 3.2 kg for children weighing 25 to 40 kg.

Tested and certified, because it touches your child’s skin
The fabric is OEKO-TEX certified and hypoallergenic. Every Ella product is tested for quality, and we apply even stricter standards to products for children.

Try it for 30 nights at home, in your own bed
You’ll only know whether this approach works for your child after a few weeks. That’s why you get 30 nights to try it out. If you don’t notice enough of a difference, we’ll collect the blanket free of charge and refund you.

Real sleepers, real numbers
Choose the right weight
Two weights, the same cotton base with micro glass beads. Choose based on your child’s body weight, not the size of the bed.
Child 15 to 25 kg
2.4 kg · 90 x 120 cm
For the youngest sleepers aged 3 and up. The lightest option to test whether deep pressure works.
Children 25 to 40 kg
3.2 kg · 100 x 150 cm
The size most parents choose for primary school children.
Does your child regularly have severe nightmares or panic attacks, or are they experiencing ongoing sleep problems that affect their day? Discuss this with your GP or child health clinic as well. A weighted blanket can help with relaxation, but it is not a treatment for underlying anxiety.
What parents say about it
"Our 4-year-old daughter has autism and a developmental delay; the blanket helps her feel safe and calm, especially when she feels overwhelmed."
"He still babbles for a little while, but then falls back asleep comfortably without wandering all over the house."
"It took him a little while to get used to it, but after a few weeks he fell asleep faster and felt safer in bed."
Frequently asked questions
Does this really help with nightmares?
The blanket helps with relaxation and can soften the impact of a bad dream, but it won't make the dream go away. If nightmares persist or are severe, discuss them with your GP or child health clinic.
What weight does my child need?
Aim for about 10% of your child's body weight. 2.4 kg for children weighing 15 to 25 kg and 3.2 kg for children weighing 25 to 40 kg.
From what age can a child use a weighted blanket?
From age 3, and only if your child can push the blanket off independently. Weighted blankets are not suitable for toddlers or babies. The blanket should never cover the head either.
Can the blanket go in the washing machine?
Only wash the blanket itself if absolutely necessary. We recommend using a removable cover, which can simply go in the wash. That keeps the bed fresh without any hassle.
What if it doesn't work for my child?
Then we'll collect the blanket free of charge within 30 nights and refund your money. So you have nothing to risk when finding out if it works.
